Airway Clinic Stockholm

Airways that transform lives

Stockholm's leading clinic for airway-focused dentistry, myofunctional therapy and jaw function

What makes airway dentistry different?

Airway Clinic Stockholm brings more than 30 years of clinical experience to a broader view of oral health. We look at breathing, jaw development, tongue function, sleep, posture and the nervous system together, because these systems rarely act alone.

Our work is built around finding the underlying cause behind symptoms such as mouth breathing, disturbed sleep, crowded teeth, jaw pain and recurring tension. By treating function first, we help children and adults build healthier patterns that can support comfort, stability and long-term wellbeing.

Many of the conditions we see — from chronic mouth breathing to jaw dysfunction — begin early in life and compound over time. Early assessment and gentle intervention can guide facial growth, improve airway capacity and reduce the need for more invasive treatment later. For adult patients, we focus on restoring balance to the jaw, airway and neuromuscular system.

We believe that dentistry should look beyond teeth. The way a person breathes, the position of their tongue at rest, and the development of their jaws all influence sleep quality, concentration, behaviour and overall health. Our clinic is built on this broader understanding.

Whether you are a parent concerned about your child's breathing at night, or an adult struggling with chronic jaw tension, our team offers thorough assessment and a clear path forward.

Common questions about airway dentistry

What is airway-focused dentistry?

Airway-focused dentistry looks at the connection between oral health, breathing, jaw development and sleep. Rather than treating teeth in isolation, it considers how the airway, tongue position, facial growth and bite all influence each other.

What age should my child be seen for an airway assessment?

Early evaluation is ideal. We recommend an initial assessment around age 3–5, when jaw growth patterns and breathing habits start to become clear. Early intervention can guide development and prevent more complex issues later.

What is myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is a programme of exercises that trains proper tongue position, swallowing patterns and nasal breathing. It supports orthodontic results, improves sleep quality and helps establish healthy oral habits.

How do I know if my child has an airway issue?

Common signs include mouth breathing, snoring, teeth grinding, restless sleep, bedwetting, difficulty concentrating and crowded teeth. If you notice any of these, an airway assessment can help identify the underlying cause.

Do you treat adults as well as children?

Yes. We treat patients of all ages. Adults often benefit from airway assessment for issues like TMJ discomfort, chronic tension, sleep problems and headaches that may be linked to breathing and jaw function.

What happens at a consultation?

A consultation includes a review of your medical and dental history, a clinical examination of breathing, jaw function and oral structures, and a discussion of findings and treatment options. We take time to explain everything clearly.

Is treatment suitable for all ages?

From newborns to adults — we're here for your family's airway health.
